CFL Aquarium Lighting
Express Light Bulbs has an extensive selection of Aquarium Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs. Standard Aquarium CFL's fit ALL incandescent fixtures, converting your incandescent bulb to a HO Daylight aquarium bulb. Our Aquarium light bulbs have a 75 to 90 lumens per watt, these lamps are very energy efficient and promote strong growth for your Aquarium plants. Fluorescent Aquarium lamps have much stronger color (6500K) rendering properties (most of the lumens emitted will be used by the aquatic plant) and CFL bulbs will not produce as much heat as standard incandescent and Metal Halide Lamps.

Lighting will make or break your aquarium. Here are some commonly ask questions:
Can I buy Standard Fluorescent Tubes?
Don't buy standard cool white fluorescent tubes or horticulture lights tubes. They will make your tank look yellow and not very visually appealing.
What is Kelvin Temperature and what Kelvin is right for my fluorescent aquarium bulb?
Kelvin is a measurement of temperature, and is often referenced as a "K" at the end of a lamp model. The higher the Kelvin temperature gets, the bluer the bulb is. Always choose compact fluorescent lamps with a kelvin rating that is at least 6500K for reef or planted aquariums. Bulbs with a Kelvin rating lower
6500K are going to emit a yellow light that will not look good. 6500K Aquarium bulbs seem more like that of sunlight.
How can I make an inexpensive Aquarium Light?
We do not recommend making your own light for your own safety but you can find an inexpensive incandescent light and you can simply screw in the energy saving Aquarium CFL. This will cost you usually less than $30.00
