Energy Saving Tips – Outdoor Lighting

I use a lot of outdoor lighting for two reasons. One is safety and the other is decoration. When I went looking for some outdoor fixtures on a drive, I saw everything from low voltage path lights, to hps flood lighting. I also found plenty of energy efficient outdoor LED lamps. These bulbs last for long periods of time outside because of their strong durability and the ability to perform even in cold weather. LED lamps are excellent, because they’re especially efficient, and I’ve noticed a marked drop in my electricity bill since I began using them.

The LED light bulb is being called, “a new kind of light”. This lamp is guaranteed to offer better lumen quality than a standard incandescent bulb, it’s been proven to last 25 times longer and it uses less energy than incandescent and 5 x longer than CFL lamps. Several home improvement stores and lighting showrooms are really starting to come on board with offering energy efficient outdoor lighting products. If you’re planning on putting fixtures outdoors, be smart about it, buy energy efficient energy saving fixtures and keep energy costs down.

Since LED lamps aren’t always available in all the different outdoor fixture sizes, I sometimes use CFL lamps and I still find that I am able to save energy and keep my bills down with them. We usually run our outside lights for a long period of time. Using a CFL bulb in the outdoor lighting system helps save a lot of energy and we all know when you save energy, you save money – and who doesn’t like to save money?

You are most likely to find either a CFL or LED lamps will fit all of your outdoor lighting needs. It is a good idea to attach some sort of timing system to your outdoor system. This way you don’t have to worry about turning them off and on they will automatically come on and turn off. This is another great way for you to save on energy costs!

Poor outdoor lighting causes light pollution and wastes billions of dollars each year and a vast number of valuable natural resources. It also robs everyone of seeing the beauty of a star-filled sky at night. You can find some special CFL and LED lights that will help reduce light pollution thanks to filters on the bulb. They also tend to be very energy efficient, because they put out a low wattage light.

Before I switched over to better lighting, my energy bill was over 20% light electricity! You’ll be able to save money and protect our environment if you buy energy efficient light products. You could save so much money if you switch out all your old bulbs and replace them with energy efficient lamps. Trust me; it won’t take long before you notice the electricity bill dropping.
