Is your house too dark to grow healthy houseplants? Especially during the winter, providing houseplants with an adequate amount of light can be difficult to do. You can’t expose the houseplant to the harshness of the cold weather for the sake of natural light, but even with a good window, a house may be too shaded by outside trees or overhangs to provide adequate light.

A small LED Grow Panel light might do just the trick. All it takes is about 15 watts to adequately provide healthy light to a 1.5 square area of plants, which is about the same wattage as a traditional lamp. If you need a larger growing area of about 5 square feet a larger LED Grow Panel is recommended. Granted, the initial costs are expensive as you can spend close to $75 and up on a quality grow light, but that’s an investment that will literally last decades. LED lights last 10 times longer than Compact Fluorescent Grow Lights. Most fluorescent lights can only last a year or so before they stop performing efficiently. Even though they continue to work, your plants aren’t getting as much light over time. With the purchase of one LED plant light, your plants get optimal light performance, so you never have to worry about changing the bulbs. They also offer both spectrums of light unlike HPS Grow Lights and Metal Halide Grow Systems.

If you have a larger number of houseplants, larger lights can be purchased to accommodate wider areas. UFO LED lights are fairly easy to move and rearrange, so you can alternate how much light each of your plants get, depending on their needs. LED plant lights have the advantage of portability and easy installation. There are no ballasts or mounting brackets involved. Simply hanging the light a few inches from the plant is sufficient.

Because LED lights produce virtually no heat, you can hang lights close to the houseplants without them suffering heat damage or drying out the soil. There’s also minimal risk of fire. Since the lights don’t get hot or have a heating filament, there’s little to worry about. Installation is as simple as plugging the lights into any home electrical plug. There’ no risky wiring involved.

Like the rest of us, sometimes house plants just need a little extra encouragement, a shot in the arm so to speak. LED lights are even better than natural light, containing a mixture of both red and blue light at a frequency that’s optimally primed to react to the plant during photosynthesis. This causes the plants to grow heartier with a greater vitality than would be possible with traditional Grow Bulbs.
