Going green is on everyone’s mind and we all try to figure out the best way to do it. Changing all of your normal incandescent light bulbs to low energy light bulbs is a huge step in going green and saving energy.

There are several types of eco friendly light bulbs:

• compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL)
• light emitting diode (LED)
• halogen light bulb (the least talked about)

All of these lights will save energy and, in the long run, save you money.

The compact fluorescent light bulb, the light emitting diode, and the halogen light bulb can all be found for purchase online, in hardware stores, and even retail stores. Because they are so easy to find, going green with eco friendly light bulbs should not be a problem for anyone. It is an easy and simple way to help the environment, save you some money and save yourself some time.

All three of these options for eco friendly light bulbs help the environment because they save and conserve energy. This is very important in our society for many reasons, and everyone should do their part to help save the environment. Whether you use a lot of artificial light, or just a little, there is always something you can do or a step you can take to become more “green“.

These alternative lighting options save you money because it does not take as much energy to run these lights as it does incandescent lights. Incandescent light bulbs can use up to seventy five percent more energy than a compact fluorescent light bulb. Light emitting diodes have the possibility to use even less energy than a compact fluorescent light bulb. The least publicized of the three, the halogen light bulb, needs up to 30% less energy than a normal incandescent light bulb.

The compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL Lights), the light emitting diode (LED Light Bulbs), and the halogen light all save you time because you spend less time replacing the bulbs. These bulbs all last much longer than a regular incandescent light bulb. This means that you will save time by not having to constantly purchase more light bulbs and you will save the time it would take you to actually physically replace the light bulb.

All of these items are possible solutions to our future lighting and energy issues. Compact fluorescent light bulbs are slightly more expensive than regular incandescent light bulbs, but use significantly less energy when turned on. They also last much longer than a regular incandescent light bulb. The energy emitting diodes also last much longer than a regular incandescent light bulb, but they are a more expensive option. Halogen lights are not given much attention right now, but they are a possible fix for future lighting and energy problems. Unfortunately, at this time they are not as energy efficient as the compact fluorescent light bulb, but they do use around 30 percent less energy than regular incandescent bulbs.
