I had always wanted to set up a salt water aquarium in my home but I was intimidated by the process. Salt water fish were some of the most amazing creatures on earth and I wanted to enjoy their beauty every day inside of my home. I knew that after the initial set up I would have to maintain the tank, which didn’t intimidate me as much as getting the tank initially established. Luckily, I found a local fish retailer that provided me with the guidance and advice that I needed to help me get started.

The helpful store employee helped me to pick out a tank. He had comprehensive knowledge of the fish and the aquatic life that we selected to fill the aquarium. He took into consideration that it was my first attempt at setting up a salt water tank and he was very thorough in his explanation of everything that I needed from the fish food, to the water testing strips. We made up a check list of all of the things that I would need to obtain and then set up before introducing fish and plant life into the tank.

The fish retailer recommended that I look online to purchase aquarium lighting and informed me that I would have a much greater selection that was priced competitively. The fish store only carried a handful of aquarium lighting models that were overpriced. The employee even gave me the name of a website that he used to purchase his aquarium light and replacement bulbs. The online retailer had a number of models that were very affordable, and the replacement bulbs were a fraction of the price that the fish store wanted. I was very thankful for the aquarium lighting tip. He also recommended that I purchase my aquarium filter from the same website.

It was very exciting to see my dream of setting up my own aquarium materialize. The aquarium filter and lighting arrived a few days after I placed my order and I was able to assemble the tank and work on getting the water ready for the introduction of the fish. I was very happy that I found such a helpful and honest person at the fish store. Of course someone that loves fish and works with them everyday is going to know the best places to find aquarium accessories, but that didn’t necessarily mean that they had to share them with me!
