Emergency Exit Lights are regulated and required by law in the United States. This Exit Light is designed to provide safety and proper evacuation in case of an emergency. Exit Emergency Signs must meet local codes and all UL 924 standards. Some areas Electrical inspectors require other things from the Emergency Exit Lights.

5 Simple Questions you should ask yourself about Exit Emergency Signs

  • 1. Do you know all the exit lighting that is used in your place of business?

In the event of an emergency that requires evacuation of the building (such as a fire, significant toxic gas release, explosion, etc.), please follow these simple guidelines:

  • Alarm: Proceed to the nearest fire alarm and activate it or call 911. All fire alarms should be clearly labeled. When speaking to a 911 operator, state your name, address, and nature of the emergency. Make sure you speak slowly and clearly. Wait for the 911 operator to hang up.
  • Confine: Make sure all doors, windows, and other openings are closed. This helps to contain the fire or toxic fumes.
  • Evacuate: Evacuate the premises.
  • When evacuating the premises, leave by the nearest staircase or exit. DO NOT use the building's elevators unless under police or fire department supervision. Floor plans should be posted at various areas around the building.
  • Quickly identify any people whom you think might still be in the building and tell fire or police department immediately.
